Where did snakes come from?
March 29, 2026
It was 10:21 a.m. on Sunday. I made two cups of cocoa, as usual, and brought them into my computer room. At first, I tried making only one cup, but my new electric kettle has a minimum water level—always enough for two cups. So every time I made just one, I had to dump the extra hot water into the sink, which felt wasteful. Later, I changed my method: instead of two spoons of cocoa in one cup, I put one spoon into each cup and used all the hot water.
Last night’s dream came from my thoughts about keeping the house clean. As a former cleaning lady—and someone who likes her home tidy—I try to keep things neat, not perfect. I’m not a perfectionist, but I am allergic to dust, and my grandmother trained me well to keep everything in its place.
The dream began with me checking all the bathrooms, looking with my eyes to see whether the baseboards were dusty. On Saturday night, I actually did this in real life, haha. Everything was clean and satisfying. But in the dream, after checking the bathrooms, I suddenly found myself outside the house.
Our real house is two stories with an unfinished basement, and I keep that basement clean too. But in the dream, the house had transformed into a Thai‑style house lifted high above the ground. OMG—what was my brain doing, haha. One moment it was a normal American house, and the next it was raised up like that.
Under the house, the cement floor was covered with plastic bags and paper. Among the trash, I saw two large grey‑black snakes. Their heads poked out of the bags while their bodies hid underneath. I stood at a distance, trying to figure out how to clean the area without getting bitten.
Then the scene shifted. I didn’t see myself walking, but suddenly I was in the backyard. The atmosphere was dull, no sunlight—just like the previous scene. It looked exactly like our real wooden deck, but the grass was tall, up to my ankles. I stopped walking when I saw a HUGE black snake and a smaller one. The big one was thicker than my thigh. The smaller one had python-like patterns and was about the size of my hands.
Out of nowhere, a group of people walked past me—haha. Were they my neighbors? No, I could feel they weren’t. They were more like hikers passing through a park.
I asked the first man in the group whether they planned to walk past the snakes. I expected him to say yes, and he did: “We’ll walk carefully and pass them just fine.” Then…I woke up. Haha.

Afterthoughts
In Thai fortune-telling, dreaming of a snake wrapping around you means you’ll meet your soulmate. My dream was nothing like that, so I looked up what it might mean. The interpretations were mixed—some negative, some positive. They mentioned life problems, financial pressure, or stress from difficult situations. They also said snakes can symbolize cultural beliefs, transformation, or self‑improvement.
The article warned not to take snake dreams too literally because they often come from subconscious thoughts. The suggestion was to explore your feelings, adjust your perspective, and focus on caring for your body and mind.
I enjoy reading different interpretations, but I don’t believe in fortune-telling. I’m on the science side—evidence and proof. I rarely dream anyway. Maybe once a year. When my head hits the pillow, I usually fall asleep right away. I meditate by praying a short Buddhist prayer, but I never finish it because I fall asleep. The secret is focusing and emptying the mind.
My husband has trouble sleeping. I told him to try what I do. He’s been trying, not successful yet, but he keeps going. We hope one day he’ll fall asleep easily.
Do you ever have trouble sleeping? What do you do besides taking a sleeping pill?

The Bowl, the Ribs, and the Staircase — A True Comedy
The Bowl, the Ribs, and the Staircase — A True Comedy
It started with a simple mission: Go downstairs. Get food. Return to the computer.
I grabbed the bowl like a hero preparing for battle. Macaroni? Ribs? Doesn’t matter. I was focused.
Panel 1: The Descent I ran down the stairs like a woman on a mission. Hair flying. Bowl clutched. Determination in my eyes. I was fast. I was fierce. I was hungry.
Panel 2: The Slip I reached the kitchen. Victory was near. And then… betrayal.
My foot slipped. The bowl flew. The ribs launched into the air like Olympic athletes. I saw my dinner in slow motion — spinning, flipping, soaring.
My face? Pure panic. My dignity? Gone.
Panel 3: The Return I didn’t even look back. I ran upstairs like a cartoon character escaping disaster. Sweat pouring. Keyboard waiting. I had a story to tell.
So here it is. The bowl. The ribs. The chaos. The comedy.
And yes — I’m still hungry.
THE DRYER THAT REFUSED TO DIE
A true sitcom episode from the Oathka Universe
Let me tell you about my dryer. This machine has been through wars. It has survived years of laundry, chaos, and my “I’ll fix it myself” engineering.
One day, we discovered a crack in the drum. A normal person would say:
“Time to buy a new dryer.”
But me? No. I looked at that crack and said:
“Not today.”
So what did I do? I grabbed silver heat‑resistant tape like a home‑appliance surgeon and patched that thing up like it was a spaceship hull.
My husband: “Oath… we should replace it.”
Me: “It still spins.”
And it DID. For months. Maybe years. Honestly, I lost track.
Fast forward to this morning.
I turned it on. It made a noise that sounded like a dinosaur giving its final roar. Then it stopped. Completely.
I just stood there like:
“…well, I’m not surprised.”
I did my research — because of course I did — and guess what? I found people who did worse repairs than me. Suddenly, I felt like a professional engineer.
Then I checked the repair cost. It was higher than buying a new dryer. That was the moment I knew:
It’s time.
My husband, who has been waiting for this day since the crack appeared, immediately said:
“Let’s upgrade both — washer and dryer.”
Even though the washer still works perfectly fine.
So tomorrow, we’re going out to pick our new laundry heroes. Goodbye silver tape. Goodbye cracked drum. Goodbye prehistoric noises.
A new era begins.

Dum and friends on the street
There is an old black male stray dog walking on the street in a small and busy town. It is pretty autumn in south Minnesota but no matter for "Dum" the stray dog and his fellow friends. A yellow cat "Sachi" the same age as Dum is the genuine companion. He has a long tail and short ears. Apparently, he cannot hear well. They live inside an old building not far from the market. They make new friends with a blind raccoon and a white rabbit at a fruit stand. Also, a fatty groundhog comes along when they search for food under the tree in the park. The blind raccoon live in the big hole under the deadwood. He divides a part of his cavity to the tiny rabbit. In exchange, the rabbit gives him carrots and green veggies which he picks up from the vegetables plantation. Under the oldest church is the cosy pit where fatty lazy groundhog spend most of the time sleeping. He is not an energetic animal but he goes out when hungry to search for food. It is a big benefit to him after joining the group because he only follows and waits to get his portion. However, he helps with carrying and dragging food when friends need extra hands without asking.

Bakery house
One day in summer was a school holiday for Moon. She was sitting in the car with her family on the highway. They took a vacation and headed to the countryside where they would spend time for the whole week. Along their way, it was a big commercial sign displayed the famous "Bakery House"only 5 minutes away. The father stopped in front of it and said to all members, "Hey, this bakery is interesting and we should check inside". Everyone did not hesitate and quickly stepped out of the car.

Two best friends
Two best friends
One Friday evening after school, there are two girls walking home together. Bam and Laura are 18, live in the same neighborhood and study in the same school. Laura asked Bam about her new classmate, a cute boy and would like to know him. Also, Laura invited Bam to the house on Saturday for her father’s party. Bam was refusing at first because her family will go to the beach. Also, Bam asked if Laura would like to join her. Laura would love to go but she is not able to as she promised her father to help him set up the party. Finally, they found out the possibility for Bam to enjoy the beach with her family in the morning and could attend the party at Laura’s house at 7 p.m. Laura asked Bam to bring her a beautiful shell from the beach for her souvenir before separating to their houses.
They have been friends since Bam’s family moved to the town a year ago. Their parents know each other very well and be good neighbors.

Kids lost in the woodð
The kids lost in the wood
Two years ago, there were two children from a small village stole a canoe from a man next door. They wanted to play adventure without thinking about dangerous. They had so much fun canoeing and did not notice that the hard water currents brought them far away from the village and headed to the deep wood. It took a long while until they realized and started to shout for help but no one came to rescue. The canoe was floating along the water and got stuck at the big rock. They were very panic and scared. As night fell, the forest was dark and cold. The sky was black as ink. They heard many strange sounds surrounded. The children were afraid, if they would nver be found. They had no idea how to get out from the wood. They were very exhausted and hungry then agreed to get off the canoe. They walked not far and saw a hut , then got inside. Lucky, there were fruits in a big palm sculpture and water in a pitcher. The kids ate and drank all then felt asleep. The next morning, there were fresh fruits in the big palm sculpture and water full in the pitcher. The kids ate, drank and played around the hut. They enjoyed and did not think to go back home and never worried about food and water because every morning, the palm sculpture and pitcher always full.
A year later, a group of adventurers canoeing on the same direction and found their canoe. You do not believe this, the canoe was still there. They found the kids and brought them back to the village.
The two children discovered a good experience and came back to the hut. They developed
the area outside the hut for planting and raised animals such as chicken and ducks. Sometimes, their parents came along and stayed overnight as a family secret camp.

outfit by Pailin
I was one of seven siblings in a poor family. We had no money to buy new clothings but school dresses. However, not all of us had our own shirts. The dresses passed through from the eldest sister to second, third, forth and so on before me. After that, I passed the dresses to younger kids. We only had a pair of shorts for each to wear at home but not everyone had shirts. Our dresses were rotten that could not recognize the original colors. Our parents had no time to wash and sewed because they worked hard to raise us.
At the age of nineteen, I got a job at the cotton manufacturer where provided uniforms to all employees. I did not buy new clothing because I made little income and I had to spend money for other important things. One year later, I got promoted to be a company operator that I became an office clerk. I changed to wear an office uniform instead of an employee uniform. The company provided shirts and fabric to tailor skirts. I designed skirts by myself and other staffs liked them.
After twelve years, I resigned from that company and applied a new job in a foreign firm. I had a chance to wear whatever I like. I bought the cheap fabrics and hired a dressmaker to tailor my dresses. I was very happy to wear my own designed garment.
Right now, I become an elderly woman living in the USA countryside with my American husband. I like to wear comfortable outfits those we bought from the second hand shops and sometime my friends and customers gave me their clothes that I love to wear. I do not like spending my money to buy my outfits. I am a simple , cheap elderly woman and do not care much how to dress.
